Is there a problem if the cartridges of my water purifier get choked, and therefore have to be frequently replaced?

NO, choking of cartridges is an indication of the fact that they are working properly and filtering & removing contaminants from your water. Once they choke, they need to be replaced. Infact, it would be a cause for worry if your cartridges didn't choke at all during the course of normal operation. It would mean that the cartridges are unable to filter out contaminants in the water, which in turn puts a higher load on the membrane thereby reducing its life.

How do I know it is time to replace my cartridge?

The first cartridge is to be replaced after every 90 days, whereas the 2 and 3 cartridges have to be replaced after every 180 days. The 5th stage cartridge should be replaced after 1 year or earlier if some smell is experienced in the output water.

Why do cartridges require replacement, can't they be cleaned & refitted?

The dirt & other particles are trapped in the cartridges along their entire depth during the filtration process and they can not be physically removed by washing or cleaning. Hence a replacement of the cartridge is required.

What is the life of a membrane? If it goes wrong prematurely, will it be replaced free of cost?

The life of a membrane depends highly upon the inlet water quality. If the TDS level of the inlet feed water is upto 1500 PPM, then the approximate life of membrane would be around one and a half years provided that the specified consumables/cartridges are replaced timely and the feed water conditions are met. If it goes wrong prematurely, it will be replaced on actual cost because being a consumable it is not covered under warranty.

What is the running cost of an RO system?

Very negligible power, a maximum level of 40 W of electricity is required. The approximate annual cost of replacement of cartridges would be between Rs. 1200 to 1500.

Other competitors are covering all consumables under warranty, why not Pentair?

Competitors cover all consumables under warranty mainly because the charges for them are already inbuilt in the cost. Also, as a safe practice for the best quality water it is always recommended to replace the cartridges within 6 months. However, due to lack of knowledge, other players do not recommend to replace the cartridges within 6 months.

For how long can I run this system?

The machine can be run for 4-5 hrs in a day.

The RO storage tank has a capacity of 14 litres, but it holds only 7 to 8 litres of treated water. Why?

The storage tank used here is a hydro-pneumatic tank with a preset air pressure and hence, gives only a minimum drawdown volume of 7 to 8 litres.

How can I clean the storage tank?

You are recommended to call the local service centre/dealer of Pentair Water for proper maintenance of the system & tank.

Does this system require sanitization? If yes, how is it done and who will do this?

Yes, the system requires sanitization once a year. You are recommended to contact/call the service centre/dealer of Pentair Water for the same.

How much chlorine can be there in the feed water which will not harm the membrane?

A maximum of 0.5 ppm (parts per million) free chlorine is acceptable in the feed water. Chlorine does affect the membrane. Even though the carbon filters protect the membrane from chlorine but if excess chlorine is present in the feed water, the carbon filters get exhausted quickly thereby leading to damage of the membrane.

How can I get water during a power failure?

Incase of a power failure, you can utilize the RO water stored in the tank.

Can I service the RO system on my own?

It is not recommended to service the system on your own. It is recommended to call the service technician for the same.

Can one RO be connected to multiple points i.e. to refrigerator, and to the kitchen?

Yes very much. It only takes a 1/4" T-valve and tubing to run the water to a refrigerator or an extra faucet in kitchen.

What is the time taken for attending a complaint?

Our Turn Around Time (TAT) is 24 hrs.

I have a water softener installed at my residence; do I still require an RO system?

A softener can only reduce the hardness level in the water i.e. it removes the chemical impurities but it does not remove the Total Dissolved Solids and microbiological impurities present in water. For removing these contaminants, you require an RO system.

Can this system be installed on the direct supply line of the municipal corporation?

No, water supply from an overhead tank is required for the RO installation.

Why is it necessary to install an RO system to overhead tank supply?

Because a minimum inlet pressure of 1kg/cm is required for RO operation and most of the impurities are removed from the water through RO.

Can this system be installed if my storage tank is just 2 metres above the ground?

No, for the minimum inlet pressure requirement, it is desired that the overhead tank be at a minimum height of 15 ft. from the ground.

How can I use the rejected water?

The rejected water can be used for all secondary applications like gardening, vehicle washing etc.
